Make It Better Series: Oat Milk
Oat milk is a delicious alternative to other options, but purchasing oat milk can become quite costly. Most importantly, oat milks will almost always contain extremely unhealthy oils and other ingredients. What qualifies as harmful oils? Well, pretty much everything except olive oil. After all, '“il n’y a que d’huile d’olive”. The only oil there is, is olive oil. See our Olive Oil Latte post for more about adding olive oil to you oat milk. As a final reason to make oat milk, the process only take minutes!

Chocolate Oat Milk
For about 3 cups:
-1 cup organic whole oats
-4 cups cold water
-1 Tablespoon homemade vanilla extract
-4 Tablespoons local maple syrup or maple sugar
-4 Tablespoons organic cocoa
Do NOT soak your oats in water before the process.
Do NOT squeeze the bag to extract more.
Do NOT use anything but cold water.
In a Vitamix or blender, add all of the ingredients. Blend on high speed for 10-30 seconds. Pour the contents into a bowl covered with a nut milk bag or similar type of filter. Let the liquid run through, but do not squeeze the filter. Pour the liquid again through another filter over bowl or such. Transfer to a glass jar and keep refrigerated up to about 5 days.
